How Deeply Do We Mourn for this Generation?

In several Psalms we are admonished to tell the “next generation” about the mighty works of God. We are told to walk the walls of Jerusalem and mark the towers, recount the works God has done, and tell of the many ways He has shown His love. Psalm 78:7 says that if we do tell them, they will have hope. Yet we see so much evidence of hopelessness, it is bewildering. Shootings, transgenderism, drugs, promiscuity, nihilism…the list goes on. Is it any wonder? The dark messages of atheism and evolution, the shadowy isolation of too much texting and social media, the unraveling of family support and safety, all drive home the feeling that life is hopeless, and pointless.

But we know better! There is joy in knowing Christ! There is hope in the promise of eternal life! There is the sense of significance we experience as we serve Him day by day. Sure, we face difficulties and go through tough times, but because “way back when” someone told us about God’s love, we came to faith in Jesus Christ. We now have the assurance that He is with us, even in the dark valleys of life.

This is the message we cannot keep to ourselves! The next generation must be told! We are called to tell them, and to keep telling them, in as many ways as possible. This is why we are hosting the DEEPER CONFERENCE in June, and the DEEPER CONCERTS in April and May (see inside): This is a sequel to the outreach that began at “Family Praise Fest” last October.

God has given us a vision that is amazing and exciting! We are inviting you to invest yourself through the resources God has given you – your energy, your prayers, your talent, your financial support. Clearly these programs cost us more financially than we can recover “at the door”. By equipping us to mark the towers, and tell of God’s mighty works to the “next generation”, you are ministering to them through us in these ministries.

As you read through this issue of SEASONS you will see we have not abandoned the other work for these DEEPER events. Day Camp Sunshine, Sunshine Preschool, the Conference Center, Liberty Corner Mission, and the Sisters themselves, remain at the hub of all we do here. All of these ministries encourage believers in the Good News of Jesus Christ, and in many ways sow the seeds of the Kingdom into new lives.

Perhaps you cannot be here to help us physically, but if you are sensing God’s tug on your heart for this “next generation” – if you are saddened, or even angered, by what you are hearing and seeing all around us – it may be that God is prompting you to sponsor our work in new and “deeper” ways.

And! Did you realize that this year we are marking the 85th Anniversary of the founding of Fellowship Deaconry Ministries in Liberty Corner? Since its beginnings, the ministries have been significantly focused on young people and new believers of any age. What a fruitful, spiritual legacy we have! But the work is not over! There is a new generation to serve!
