Many Camp Sunshine alumni walk with the Lord today because they heard the Gospel then right here at Camp. Now there is a need to make our services and ministries available all year round.
In order to do this, we need to weatherize the Rec Hall. Phase-I is for insulating and sheet-rocking the Rec Hall itself, installing “split-system” heating-A/C wall mounted units, and adding appropriate gym style wall-padding.
Phase-II extends the insulation to the rest of the building (called the Queen Esther Room). In Phase-III we will install bathroom facilities and add the finishing touches. Each phase of the project brings extended use to the building. With adequate funding we can complete the project this year. Based on current estimates, the project cost could be as low as $50,000. One reason for the low cost is that the Rec Hall is sound, has exposed rafters, and is more or less ready-to-go.
By weatherizing the Camp Rec Hall (a) youth winter programs become possible, (b) sweltering summer temperatures for campers are abated, (c) Day Camp Sunshine can offer “we are open when school is closed” programs, (d) corporate groups can use the Rec Hall when visiting the Ropes Course, (e) Fellowship Conference Center guests will have a place for recreation during retreats, (f) new rental space becomes available, and new program opportunities open up, and (g) significant increased revenues will continue to help support the Deaconry for years to come. That’s a lot of benefits from one project!
This project is one example of how you might minister to the “next generation” through us! It’s becoming clearer day by day, that we are in a battle for souls:
“We battle not against flesh and blood, but principalities and powers in high places.”
Ephesians 6:12
Who can tell how many more spiritual victories for God’s Kingdom may be won in the Rec Hall of Day Camp Sunshine?
